Rural Economic Development (RED) Program
Projects at a GlanceEmployment and Skills Development for People with Intellectual Disabilities; A community involvement model in Chatham-Kent ($30,350 over 2 years)
Date Announced: November 10, 2005 Community Living Chatham-Kent and the Chatham-Kent Integrated Children's Service have developed a training program to provide skills training and employment to four adults with intellectual disabilities. An additional twenty adults will be trained in groups of four after the initial group completes the training program. While under the supervision of a job coach, the employees have had the opportunity to develop new skills, earn wages, gain confidence and independence.
