Ontario Supports Improved Access to Health-Care Services in Rural Ontario
Invests in Software Application To Enhance Delivery of Health-Care Services
Guelph -- The Ontario government is supporting improved access to health
care services in rural Ontario by investing in an integrated software
application to enhance delivery of health care services, Liz Sandals,
MPP for Guelph-Wellington , announced today on behalf of John Gerretsen,
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
"The McGuinty government is committed to meeting the top priorities for
rural Ontario -- strong people and strong economies, and better health,"
said Sandals. "Today's announcement supports our goal to help
communities like Guelph-Wellington and the surrounding areas offer
their residents more opportunities and a higher quality of life."
The Ontario government will contribute $300,000 to the project led by Therapy
Partners Inc. and its partners, Profesional Rehabilitation Outreach
and Microsoft Canada. The project will use the software application
streamline the information and business processes of Ontario Home
Health Care Providers Association in rural Ontario, improving direct
client care through greater administrative efficiency. "I am
delighted that the province has provided funding for this project,"
said Kate Quarrie, mayor of the City of Guelph. "This innovative
project will enhance the delivery of medical services to all of Wellington
County and benefit all residents."
"Therapy Partners is excited to partner with the government to help define
the future of community health care delivery by providing timely and
efficient services to clients in all community settings," said
Christine Reno, business director, Therapy Partners Inc. "We
will be directing our efforts to ensure the province's investment
results in improved care to clients, regardless of their location,"
said Chris Linton, manager, Professional Rehabilitation Outreach.
"It is our goal to ensure home-care service providers keep pace
with changes in the broader sector, ensuring seamless health-care
service delivery." "Our company is very pleased to be able
to leverage technology to help support local health care and to give
back to our community," said Robert Vos, manager of central sales,
Microsoft Canada.
Today's investment was made through the Rural Economic Development (RED) program,
which invests in projects that support sustainable rural economies
and community partnerships, and is a key part of the government's
plan for rural Ontario. The rural plan provides a coordinated framework
across government to build on rural Ontario's strengths -- committed
people, diverse economic opportunities, unrivalled resources and a
solid sense of community.
