Nutrient Management Joint Research Program

|Overview| |Project Summaries|

Overview

Government decisions need to be based on the best, most up to date science available. Research contributes to the continuous improvement of science-based standards and voluntary best management practices.

The Nutrient Management Joint Research Program was a time limited program that supported the development of environmentally effective and scientifically robust management practice options for land application of agricultural and non-agricultural source materials in Ontario. All projects funded by this program are completed and the program is no longer accepting proposals for funding.

Outcomes of the research projects funded under this program articulated the:

  • effectiveness of different land application practices to mitigate risk to water quality for different geographic and temporal scenarios, relevant to and of concern across the province
  • benefits and costs of incremental changes in a specific practice(s)
  • certainty or confidence to which findings and interpretations can be extrapolated across the province

Project Summaries

All the projects have been completed.

These projects have received funding from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Such funding does not indicate endorsement of the project content by the Ministry.
