Food Safety Research Program

Overview

The Ontario Government has long recognized the importance of food safety research as a tool to better characterize the risk presented by food contamination, to reduce risk through new detection instruments and methods, and to support the development of effective regulations and policies. For this reason, the Ontario Food Safety Research Program (FSRP) was launched (more information)

Call for Letters of Intent 2011-12 - Now Closed

The Call for letters of Intent is now closed. Only applicants who are successful at the letter of intent stage will be invited to submit a full proposal.

Research Management System (RMS)

Welcome to the Research Management System (RMS), our new e-grant system for managing our research programs.

Although the 2011-12 Call for the Food Safety Research Program Call is now closed, researchers can still register and create a profile if they are interested in other OMAFRA research funding programs. We are expecting to issue a call for the New Directions Researcher Program in July 2011.

The Food Safety Research Forums

2011 Forum now Scheduled

The 9th annual Food Safety Research Forum will be held on May 5, 2011 at the BEST WESTERN Royal Brock Hotel and Conference Centre at 716 Gordon Street Guelph. The preliminary agenda is coming soon.

Call for Posters

Are you a researcher in Food Safety - Would you like to present your research at the 2011 Forum? The deadline for submission is March 30, 2011.

There are prizes for the best poster submission from a student.

2010

The 8th annual Food Safety Research Forum was held on May 6, 2010 at the Delta Guelph Hotel on 1 Stone Road West. The event was attended by over 150 people from 42 institutions. The Forum comprised 15 presentations and 11 poster exhibits.
