Funding from OMAFRA for Food Research in Ontario
The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) supports food research through investment in a Food Research Program at the University of Guelph, which brings together expertise in food production, food science, nutrition, engineering, and consumer science. Research is also supported at other universities and laboratories through the Food Safety Research Program and the New Directions Research Program (formerly called Special Research Program).

Food Research in Ontario
Ontario's extensive network of universities, colleges, and federal government laboratories provides a cluster of leading-edge food and nutrition research programs that is among the very best in North America. These programs, enhanced by federal, provincial and industrial investment, support the provision of safe, nutritious, and high quality food that meets the needs of a diverse population and enhances Ontario's $31.5 billion food industry.

Ontario Food Research Priorities
The Ontario Food Processing Research and Services Committee (OFPRSC) is one of nine research committees in Ontario that is mandated to identify and priorize research needs and services. In 2003, the OFPRSC developed strategic food processing research priorities for 2004-2008.
