This innovative group is casting a wide net to capture a bigger market for Ontario's aquaculture industry. The Northern Ontario Aquaculture Association pulled together a comprehensive communications and media strategy to promote Northern Ontario's fish farming community. Armed with a revamped website that offers recipes and prep tips, a new branding logo and brochure - the group kicked off their marketing campaign by promoting Ontario farm-raised rainbow trout, a healthy protein rich in omega-3 fatty acid. And they're seeing results. More consumers are asking for Ontario rainbow trout. The association continues to build awareness of the industry through social media and by coordinating annual education aquaculture tours for government, food service providers, buyers and people interested in aquaculture. The group is helping to put Northern Ontario's 14 farm-raised operations on the map, and more fresh Ontario fish are finding their way to consumers' plates.
