Kraayenbrink Farms Limited – Moorefield
Carol Mitchell, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Jake Kraayenbrink, and Betty Kraayenbrink
Studies indicate that by applying the correct amount of manure in the correct places, crop yields improve and there are positive environment impacts. With this in mind Betty and Jake Kraayenbrink created an inexpensive pressure gauge adaptation for use on liquid manure spreaders. The innovation has helped them fine-tune nutrient management for their crops and has resulted in increased corn yields. The producers share their knowledge, hosting research trials on the farm and displaying the spreader at farm shows. Their innovation is helping to educate other producers on the value of calibrating and uniformity of manure application, for both economic and environmental benefits.
