Field Survey of Polychlorinated Dibenzo-p-dioxins and Polychlorinated Dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) in Sewage Biosolids Treated Ontario Agricultural SoilsAcknowledgementsThe combined efforts of many people were needed in order to complete the study and this report. The principle contributors were the authors, but the efforts of the following individuals are gratefully acknowledged. Laboratory analysis of the soils and sewage biosolids for concentrations of PCDDs and PCDFs was carried out by staff of the Dioxin/Furan Unit, Laboratory Services Branch, of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Etobicoke. The authors would particularly like to thank K. MacPherson and V. Khurana, for their analytical contributions, and E. Reiner for his supervisory contributions. The contributions made by these staff, and the timely delivery of the analytical results, were integral to the study and greatly appreciated by the authors. The following people assisted with sampling of the sewage biosolids: D. Pellerin and J. Furgal, Regional Municipality of Niagara; M. Crone, Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), Owen Sound; G. Eagles, OCWA, Southampton; B. Rouw, Town of Hanover; A. Lapinski, Regional Municipality of Durham; and M. Janiec and C. Roland, Terratec Environmental Ltd., Oakville. The last two individuals assisted with sampling at sewage biosolids storage facilities in the Regional Municipalities of Halton and Waterloo. The contributions of all are acknowledged with special thanks. The figures included in the report were generated using computer graphic programs, and were produced by D. Rouleau, Resources and Planning Branch, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Guelph. The contributions of the farmer co-operators were also critical for successful completion of this study. This report would not have been possible without their willing co-operation and assistance.
