Hog Market Information

One of the keys to a successful farm business is to track, understand and evaluate the trends and potential impacts that market information will have on a farm business and the Ontario pork industry. To harness the power of market knowledge, pork producers and industry stakeholders require accurate, timely, current and relative market information. The objective of the Hog Market Information (weekly, monthly and yearly) is to organize and to transform market data (production and financial) into products that will enable producers and industry stakeholders to enhance the quality of their production, financial and marketing decisions and understanding of the market place.

Information Sheets currently available from John Bancroft, john.bancroft@ontario.ca, include:

  1. Weekly Hog Market Facts & Comments - is a weekly two-page email that is circulated to producers and industry stakeholders every Monday afternoon. The first page contains market information on a weekly basis for the last five weeks that impacts the Ontario industry. Each Monday the previous week's information gets added and the furthest week away is deleted. The second page contains quotes from a variety of market information sources and graphs of current market information. To receive the weekly email, contact John Bancroft, john.bancroft@ontario.ca
