The figure 1 describes the life cycle of Toxoplasma
gondii: The unsporulated oocysts are shed in cat feces. Oocysts sporulate in the
environment and become infective. The sporulated oocysts infect humans through
contaiminated food, water and soil. Sporulated oocysts infect animals or birds
through contaminated feed, water and soil. Sporulated oocysts infect humans through
containminated food, water and soil. The intermediary hosts include pigs and many
other mammals such as sheep, goats rats and birds. Intermediate hosts infect each
other through tissue cysts. Humans are infected through cysts in tissues of intermediate
hosts (raw and undercooked meat). Fetus are infected through tachyzoites transmitted
through the placenta. Cats infected through cysts in tissue of intermediate hosts.
