Premiums for Other Breeding Livestock

Premiums may be considered for other types of breeding livestock if the owner submits breeding records or equivalent documentation and receipts (issued within the last 18 months) with his or her application.

Methodology

Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program standardized valuation tables draw fair market values (FMVs) from industry market reports, ministry price tracking, and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada reporting of farm product market values. Fair market value is defined as the average market value an owner might receive for an animal with specific characteristics, such as age and weight.

Fair market values posted to the table reflect a two month delay from the month of predation. For example: the standardized valuation table for March will utilize January market data.  This practice has been adopted to ensure pricing accuracy and accommodate the time needed to collect market data.

The standardized valuation table was developed in consultation with industry stakeholders and commodity groups.
