Rodent control around
horse barns is essential. Mice and rats
consume and contaminate hay, straw and
grain, and cause considerable damage to
buildings and electrical wiring. To assist
in controlling and preventing a rodent
problem: remove any food source (including
spilled feed), rodent-proof buildings,
eliminate nest sites, keep areas close
to buildings trimmed and free of weeds
and long grass, keep feed and waste in
metal containers with tight fitting lids,
eliminate standing water and dripping
taps and practice good sanitation.
