Top Image: The diagram has two lots across a road from each other. The lot on the west side of the road has a livestock facility and a dwelling. The lot on the east side of the road only has a dwelling. A consent to sever is proposed to sever the eastern lot into two parts. The dwelling will be located on a small parcel of land. The remaining larger parcel will comprise agricultural lands without a dwelling. MDS I is not applied from the livestock facility on the west side of the road, as the existing dwelling on the proposed new lot, and the livestock facility are already on separate lots, unless the municipality chooses to do so.

Bottom Image: There are two lots across a road from each other. A farmer has purchased both lots and has consolidated them into one farm operation. The lot on the west side of the road has a livestock facility and a dwelling, while the lot on the east side of the road only has a dwelling. A consent to sever is proposed to sever the lot on the west side, into two parts. One smaller lot will contain the dwelling. The larger lot will contain the livestock facility. MDS I is applied from the livestock facility to the proposed new lot, as the existing dwelling on the proposed new lot, and the livestock facility are on the same lot prior to the application to create the lot. The MDS I setback requirement must be met before the lot can be approved.
