Ontario is helping a Canadian business expand into St. Marys, support local farmers and create jobs.
With support from Ontario's Rural Economic Development Program, Vanderpol's Eggs - through its subsidiary, Perth County Ingredients - is establishing a state-of-the-art processing facility that will convert egg by-products into pet food ingredients. Occupying a former egg processing facility, this business will stimulate St. Marys' economy, create 20 new jobs and expand market opportunities for Ontario egg farmers.
A strong agri-food industry is part of the McGuinty government's plan to create jobs and opportunities that will grow the province's economy.
"With this investment in Vanderpol's Eggs, we're supporting
innovation and diversification in Ontario's agri-food industry.
We're also giving our processors and producers the tools they need
to expand into new markets and grow the province's economy."
- Carol
Mitchell, Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs
"In addition to opening up a new revenue stream for our farmers,
our government's investment in this project is stimulating the local
economy and creating jobs our families can count on. With our support,
St. Marys' is innovating and growing its economy."
- John Wilkinson, MPP for Perth-Wellington
"The support we're receiving through the Rural Economic Development
program is helping us create nutritious, value-added pet food ingredients
while expanding market opportunities for Ontario egg farmers. Through
further research and development, we will continue to find even
more uses for by-products within the agri-food industry."
- Mike Vanderpol, President, Vanderpol's Eggs Ltd.
