Growing the Ontario Fresh-Peeled Carrot Industry

Local producers in Middlesex and Norfolk counties are doubling and improving production of fresh-peeled carrots.

Through the Rural Economic Development Program, Ontario is helping Derewlany Mini Carrots and FDM Produce to:

  • increase the acreage of carrots grown from 175 to 350 acres
  • improve grading and packaging of carrots through skills training and machinery improvements
  • provide opportunities to retain employees and create local jobs
  • boost the economy by keeping production local
  • provide Ontario consumers with access to fresh, locally-grown produce.
