World Class Training Coming To Niigon Technologies

Helping To Build The Workforce Of Tomorrow

Ontario is helping the Moose Deer Point First Nation and their partners provide skills training for staff at Niigon Technologies. 

The province is investing $87,500 to help provide employees with the necessary skills to support business growth.  The training will focus on industry specific areas such as machine operation, maintenance and quality control, as well as general training in safety, teamwork and computer skills. 

Launched in 2000, Niigon Technologies is a world class facility that manufactures computer, electronics, automotive and medical components for companies across North America.  All dividends are re-invested in social, environmental, wellness and infrastructure projects for the Moose Deer Point First Nation.

The funding is part of the Rural Economic Development Program, which invests in community-based projects in three priority areas:

• Revitalized communities and downtowns
• Enhanced skills training
• Improved access to health care services

• Since 2003, Ontario has invested $74.7 million in 228 projects through the Rural Economic Development Program. 

• The skylights over the Niigon production area reduce annual electrical energy by 50% and accommodate photovoltaic panels for on-site electricity generation.
