Picton Looks To Become Tourist Hub

NEWS

February 27, 2009

Ontario is helping make the Town of Picton a tourist hub in Prince Edward County by supporting upgrades to The Waring House Inn.

Along with physical upgrades to the facility, additional marketing, promotion and advertising will help establish the state-of-the-art conference hall as a major economic driver in the county, and position Picton as a tourist destination of choice. The province is investing $500,000 in this project, which will create 26 new full-time jobs, while retaining 180 full-time positions.

The funding is part of the Rural Economic Development Program, which invests in community-based projects in three priority areas:

  • Improved access to health care services
  • Revitalized communities and downtowns
  • Enhanced skills training.
