Marketing Hastings County as Investment Destination

September 19, 2008

NEWS

Ontario is helping the County of Hastings and its partners revitalize the county and market it to potential investors.

The province is investing $291,000 to help the county develop a strategic investment marketing program that will benefit its rural and small urban centres. Elements of the program include a marketing package, direct target marketing to investors, participation in trade shows and the creation of an ambassador program. The project will help brand the communities of North Hastings and Deseronto by marketing their strengths and organizing workshops, seminars and training for businesses and their employees. It will also help the Town of Deseronto beautify its main street and market it to investors. In addition, the project will kick start the "greening" of small urban environments to make the communities healthier and more attractive for investment.

The funding is part of the Rural Economic Development Program which invests in community-based projects in three priority areas:

  • Improved access to health care services
  • Revitalized communities and downtowns
  • Enhanced skills training.
