One-Of-A-Kind Facility Coming To Central Huron

Ontario is helping the Municipality of Central Huron and its partners transform an existing school building into a state-of-the-art equine and agricultural centre.

The province's $500,000-investment will help create the Regional Equine & Agricultural Centre of Huron. When completed, the facility will be used for education and recreation, offering innovative programs developed with industry partners.

The funding is part of the Rural Economic Development Program which invests in community-based projects in three priority areas:

• Revitalized communities and downtowns
• Enhanced skills training
• Improved access to health care services.

"This project will provide opportunities for young people to attain skills and access to higher education, apprenticeship training and better paying jobs," said MPP Carol Mitchell, MPP for Huron-Bruce. "Flexible educational programs will also provide farmers with needed skill sets to run existing family farm operations and will help them stay on top of emerging trends."

"Through this project, we will have the resources to heighten interest in local agricultural and equine businesses," said Municipality of Central Huron Reeve Bert Dykstra. "Horse owners, enthusiasts and urban visitors will have a place to attend trade shows, fairs and sales within our community."
