Ontario Government Supports Kapuskasing Tourism Revitalization
Invests In Kapuskasing Train Station And Ron Morel
Memorial Museum Project
KAPUSKASING - The Ontario government is supporting tourism revitalization
in Kapuskasing through an investment to highlight local heritage and culture,
said Maria Van Bommel Parliamentary Assistant (Rural) to the Minister
of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
"Ontario's success depends on building strong communities, a strong
economy and a healthy environment in rural and Northern Ontario,"
said Van Bommel. "Today's announcement supports our plan to invest
in the prosperity of our people and focuses on boosting cultural tourism
in Kapuskasing."
The government will contribute $824,500 to create a welcome centre at
the Kapuskasing Train Station and revitalize the Ron Morel Memorial Museum
to enhance tourism.
"We are pleased to be moving forward with this important project.
The facility will depict the northern hospitality, rich heritage and culture
of Kapuskasing. It will revitalize the tourism for the community by offering
cultural learning experiences and enticing visitors to extend their stay
in Kapuskasing," said Town of Kapuskasing Mayor, Jean Claude Caron.
Today's investment was made through the Rural Economic Development (RED)
program, which invests in projects that support sustainable rural economies
and community partnerships - a key part of the government's plan for rural
Ontario. Through the RED program, the Ontario government and its rural
partners are building stronger communities that work better for the people
who live in them. For more information about RED or Ontario's rural plan,
