ABATTOIR'S LICENCE SUSPENSION LIFTED

TORONTO - The director of the Food Inspection Branch at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food (OMAF) has lifted the provisional suspension of the licence of Wallace Beef Incorporated, a provincially inspected meat processing plant near Kingston, Ontario.

Frozen and processed meat and meat products that were detained at the abattoir have been inspected, found fit for human consumption and released to the operator.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the Office of Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health have been informed of this decision, as has Correctional Services Canada.

If there is any indication of a potential threat to public health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the appropriate authorities will be notified immediately.
