Animal Health and Welfare Branch

The goal of staff in the Veterinary Science and Policy unit is to advance animal health and welfare and protect public health. We develop policy and improve systems that preserve and enhance provincial biosecurity, animal health, animal welfare, disease surveillance, and emergency preparedness. We achieve our goal through collaboration with expert staff across the provincial government, many producer and veterinary organizations, the University of Guelph, the veterinary colleagues in other provinces, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and other areas of the federal government.
