Meat Plant Assistance Program (MPAP)
What is it?Financial assistance for provincial meat plants to help them comply with the new meat regulation, Ontario Regulation 31/05. On June 1, 2005 a new meat regulation came into effect. Ontario Regulation 31/05 applies to all abattoirs and free standing meat plants. To comply with the regulation, meat plants may be faced with substantial costs to upgrade their operations. Meat plants that must comply with Ontario Regulation 31/05 can receive a direct grant to off-set the costs associated with bringing their operation into compliance. What is the benefit to your company?The Meat Plant Assistance Program (MPAP) is designed to help meat plants by providing funding for costs directly related to meeting the new standards. Grants are provided on a cost share basis, with 50% being contributed by government for capital costs and 75% for non-capital costs. The program provides:
