Getting Advice

The Toronto Food Business Incubator (TFBI) offers you access to a commercial kitchen and food processing resources so you can grow your enterprise into a full-scale food business. They also offer business and marketing help when the time comes to launch your product.

Membership is required, and for a one-time fee, you receive the following benefits:

  • a 24-hour fully equipped, commercially certified kitchen
  • priority scheduling for use of kitchen facilities
  • business plan analysis and feedback
  • access to business consultants
  • an option to purchase shared liability insurance
  • assistance in migration to independent facilities (i.e. co-packer or stand-alone kitchen)
  • guaranteed entrance into Up and Running, a 12-hour entrepreneurial course provided by BizLaunch.

The Guelph Food Technology Centre (GFTC) offers product development services and food business development advice on a fee-for-service basis. GFTC also conducts workshops in food manufacturing for new processors.

Showcasing Your Product

Grocery Innovations Canada, the premier event sponsored each year by the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers, offers a New Product Showcase for those companies exhibiting at the event. It offers:

  • corporate Exposure
  • increased Traffic
  • a second location for your product on the tradeshow floor.

The Canadian Grand Prix New Awards ™ is a Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors (CCGD) consumer-focused annual awards program which celebrates advancement and excellence in new food distribution industry products to encourage manufacturer innovation and to profile continued value to consumers.
