On-Farm Food Safety Workshops

OMAFRA offer in person on-farm food safety workshops to organizations as requested. Sessions are delivered by OMAFRA food safety staff and can be tailored to meet the needs of your particular group. The modules that are normally covered in these learning opportunities include: Worker Training and Record Keeping, Worker Practices, Pre and Post-Harvest Water, Cleaning and Sanitizing, Pest Control, Building Maintenance and Visitors, and Soil Amendments.

These workshops will help you identify potential food safety hazards on your farm operation and outline practices that you can take that will help reduce those risks. Farm operators, managers and workers will benefit from these interactive sessions.

The Food Safety Team Lead will help you put together a workshop specific to your group's needs. These sessions are ideal for producer groups of 10 or more people and can be held at a location of your choosing or at a local OMAFRA office. Please email foodsafety@ontario.ca to start the process.
