Benefits of Advantage

Advantage is a made-in-Ontario program designed for small and mid-sized Ontario food processors. It is proven to improve food safety in facilities. But there are many other benefits to the program:

  • Improves your company's reputation and credibility with customers
    Being part of the Advantage Series of Food Safety Programs™ provides proof that your company is dedicated to food safety. When you are certified, consumers have greater confidence that your facility is producing a safe food product.

  • Helps your company keep customers and expand into new markets
    More and more customers are requiring that their suppliers have a formal food safety program like Advantage GMP, HACCP and HACCP Plus. Without a formal food safety program you may find it increasingly difficult to keep your customers. Adopting Advantage programs may also open doors to new customers that you could not access before.

  • Improves product quality
    GMPs and HACCP require consistent, standardized procedures. These will help your business produce more consistently high quality product. After attaining Advantage, food processing plants showed a major reduction of micro-organisms. The Advantage program reduces food safety hazards such as pathogens but will be just as effective in reducing spoilage bacteria, which will lead to an increased shelf-life.

  • Reduces operating costs, including insurance premiums
    GMPs and HACCP require you to review and analyze your entire operations. This often reveals areas where your business can streamline costs. Adopting GMPs and HACCP may also reduce insurance premiums.
