Traceability Foundations Initiative FundamentalsView presentation (PPT-342 KB) Traceability Foundations Initiative· 3-year Federal-Provincial cost share program under the Agri-flexibility funding program · Funding to both sector organizations and value chains · Support voluntary, industry-led information sharing networks that will enhance agri-food traceability · Funds will be allocated based on applications being received and project evaluation criteria · A total of $21.5M available for the program · Provides up to 75 per cent cost-share funding to a maximum of $5 million Eligibile Value ChainsValue Chain Partner means an individual business within an identified Value Chain with a specific role or responsibility in the production, movement, processing, storage, distribution or sale of product associated with the Value Chain. Eligible Applicants:At least 3 value chain partners within 2 or more of the
following areas: Lead Applicant:Must have its head office located in Ontario, and operate within the province of Ontario Eligible Sector OrganizationsSector Organization means a not-for-profit, incorporated association or other recognized legal entity that represents members in a sector. Eligible Lead Applicants:· Provincial organizations representing member-producers who are directly involved in Agriculture, Agri-food and Agri-based Activities · Food and beverage industry organizations representing member processors who are directly involved in food processing Activities Not Eligible:· Organizations at a national level and non-Ontario based members of these organizations · Partners who are not a fundamental part of the Value Chain · Tobacco product producers/manufacturers · Pet food facilities · Health and/or nutrition supplement processors · Fish farmers and processors Benefits of TFI· Enhance information sharing. · Increase adoption and sustainability of voluntary traceability systems to national/international standards across a sector or along a value chain. · Improve market access and substantiate product claims to generate economic benefits for participants. · Increase capacity of industry to trace animals, agri-food products and their associated attributes. · Increase the ability of sectors and value chains to implement emergency response (e.g. food recall) procedures when required. Application SubmissionA validated Premises Identification Number is mandatory for the Traceability Foundations Initiative · Lead applicants require a validated Premises Identification Number with their application, if applicable · All other participants require a validated Premises Identification Number with the signed copy of the Contribution Agreement for all project participants Applications can be submitted:Electronically to: TFI.omafra@ontario.ca Application Intake period9:00 am on August 8, 2011 until Sept 16, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. E.S.T. Application Review Process· Applications will be assessed according to evaluation criteria for the Traceability Foundations Initiative. · Evaluation of applications are done on an individual basis and include the fit of the project with the priorities and objectives of Traceability Foundations Initiative. · OMAFRA approval of projects will be based on selection criteria.
