Ontario's Food Export Road Map to China

Exporting can help companies expand their consumer base and product lines, diversify products and market knowledge and drive innovation to meet domestic and global needs.

Export Development Canada has found that manufacturers who export are 30 per cent more productive, generate more than 100 per cent more revenue, have greater longevity, are more innovative and benefit from increased efficiencies.

Traditionally, Canadian exports have focused on the American and European markets. However, monumental shifts in global economies and markets have altered the global marketplace, with China currently Ontario's second-largest agri-food export market. In 2014 alone, Ontario's total agri-food sales to China, including exports to Hong Kong, reached $832 million.

China shows continued growth and the new Ontario Food Export Road Map - OMAFRA's first comprehensive how-to exporting guidebook - provides food and beverage businesses with practical step-by-step advice to successfully expand into the Chinese market.
