Conestoga Meat Packers

Conestoga Meat Packers is a food processing company owned and supplied by a co-operative of 170 Southern Ontario family farmers. In 2001, the farmer-owners integrated their operations and bought Conestoga Meat Packers, a pork plant that has been in operation since 1982. These farmers entered the business with a view to supplying the world with the same wholesome pork their own families had enjoyed for generations. With that vision in mind, this company entered the export market, first to the United States and now in more than 20 countries worldwide.

Over the past two years the company has focused its export market strategy to include China, Mexico, the United States and Japan. Conestoga Meat Packers has been able to significantly increase its exports to Japan by enhancing its product's shelf life to meet the quality parameters and requirements of Japanese customers.

The company has grown from a processing operation with 35 employees to 851 today, making it globally competitive. Conestoga Meat Packers remains committed to further market expansion by delivering consistently high-quality premium pork internationally.
