Objective:

To provide directors and senior staff of marketing boards and buyer/processor associations with resources and seminars aimed at skills development and strong governance.

Ongoing Workshops:

    1. Board Governance
      • A governance refresher for your board of directors and senior staff
      • Length can be tailored to your schedule. The full, interactive workshop requires three hours.
      • There is no cost to your board for this workshop.

    2. "On-Demand" Orientation Training for Board Members
      • Workshops have been scheduled for June 19 and November 9, 2007 in Guelph.
      • This 6-hour training session is available "on-demand" and free-of-charge.
      • Content includes board governance and effectiveness as well as marketing regulations and authorities.
      • With involvement from your board, this workshop can be expanded to include board-specific policies, procedures and strategies.
      • This course is an effective orientation for newly elected board memebers.

Periodic Workshops:

  • Specialized workshops are developed and delivered to respond to the training and education needs of the Commission's partners in regulated marketing.
  • Past examples include:
    • "Getting to Concensus" - a board decision making workshop
    • "Financial Responsibility" - a financial reporting workshop
    • "Governanace Best Practices" - an advanced governance workshop for boards of directors
    • "Effective Communications" - a skills workshop to improve media relations and your role as a spokesperson for the board.
