Ventilation for Livestock and Poultry Facilities - Publication 833
The goal of every livestock and poultry producer is to provide an optimum environment in the barn to maximize the animals well being and productivity. Good ventilation is a key component of this goal. This manual was prepared to assist producers and ventilation designers in the design, installation and maintenance of ventilation systems. It explains the basic design principles, operational requirements and maintenance of ventilation equipment in livestock and poultry barns in Ontario. Examples are provided throughout the book to demonstrate how the various principles and components are interconnected in actual barn situations.
The book also provides guidelines to contractors and producers, who install and/or operate ventilation systems in livestock and poultry barns. Although it may serve as a useful guide to engineers, it was not prepared as a basic engineering manual on ventilation systems. No attempt has been made to supply all basic theory and information. Consult additional reference material for a comprehensive discussion on the ventilation of livestock and poultry facilities.
