Biogas System Financing and Funding Opportunities

There are other sources of funding for biogas system feasibility studies, construction, and energy generation including:

Feed-In Tariff (FIT) Program

The Green Energy Act has enabled the Feed-In Tariff Program. FIT is administered by the Ontario Power authority and offers contracts for electricity from renewable sources, including biogas systems.

More information about the Feed-In Tariff Program can be found on the OPA's website.

Canada-Ontario Farm Stewardship Program

Funding is available under the Canada-Ontario Farm Stewardship Program to eligible producers for manure treatment projects, including engineering design work and anaerobic digester systems. This program is administered through the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA).

Learn more about the Canada-Ontario Farm Stewardship Program from the OSCIA's website.

Agriculture Flexibility Fund (AgriFlexibility)

Through Agrculture and Agri-Food Canada, the AgriFlexibility may be used to support a biogas project or innovations relating to the biogas system. The Agricultural Flexibility Fund is a five-year fund ending March 31, 2014 to support the agriculture, agri-food and agri-based product sectors. The fund's priorities are reducing the cost of production, environmental sustainability, value-chain innovations, and addressing emerging opportunities for the sector.
