Introduction
Various types of Crop and Pest Updates are available to keep you up to
date with what is happening in your industry. These updates are available
in a variety of formats as indicated by the following icons:

Some Crop Updates are not available in all formats. Available formats
are indicated by the icon following the description.
The Berry Bulletin is a message for berry growers, scouts and
consultants, from the OMAFRA berry team. It provides updates on crop conditions,
timely recommendations and answers to frequently asked questions about
strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and other small fruit.

The CropLine is a bi-weekly, province-wide, toll-free, phone service
on crop management tips, herbicide recommendations and pest alerts. The
number to call is 1-888-449-0937. Leave a message for OMAFRAs field
crop specialists, and they'll do their best to address it on the next
CropLine. If you'd rather listen to the CropLine on your
computer or MP3 player, you can subscribe to our new CropLine Podcast
or download MP3 files of the latest report.
The Field Crop Reports give updates on crop development and production
issues. They are issued regularly throughout the growing season, covering
forages, cereals, corn, soybeans, canola, and edible beans.
(Ginseng, Sweet Potatoes, Herbs and Spices, and Other Specialty
Crops)
The OMAFRA Ginseng and Specialty Crop Report provides information
on crop production issues and events affecting specialty crop producers
and associated industry in Ontario. These reports provide information
on crop production; monitoring and management of insects, diseases and
weeds; meetings and answers to frequently asked questions about specialty
crops in Ontario. Several editions are published: Ginseng, Sweet potatoes,
Herbs and Spices, and Other Specialty Crops (to include tobacco, hemp,
sea buckthorn, elderberries and other crops with novel food or industrial
applications). The Specialty Crop Report is issued 2 times per month during
the growing season, or more frequently when there is timely information
to deliver.

The Maple Production Report is produced weekly, through the late
winter and early spring. Maple producers can access the most recent report
by calling 519-826-3414 or toll-free 1-888-290-4441.

Check out the Nursery-Landscape Agriphone for timely recommendations
on Integrated Pest Management of pests, diseases and weeds for outdoor
ornamentals (trees, shrubs and perennials). This is an excellent Ontario
resource for nursery growers, landscape professionals, arborists and gardeners.
The Agriphone also contains updates on issues, meetings and other opportunities
that relate to the production and maintenance of outdoor ornamentals.

Here's where you can access timely information on commercial tomato and
pepper production, from the vegetable specialists at the Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. These updates, put together by
OMAFRA vegetable crop specialists, provide timely information on crop
production, pest identification, pest control, pest monitoring, weather,
changes to pesticide registrations, meetings, conferences, new publications
of interest to the vegetable industry, and more.
Listen to the latest crop production news and information direct from
OMAFRA crop specialists on "Sound Advice" - Audio Crop Updates.
Listen to the report online, sign up for podcasts, or download web-quality
files for your mp3 player or high-quality audio files for radio station
programming. The reports are also available in text format.

The Tender Fruit and Grape Report is an excellent Ontario resource for
tender fruit and grape growers, scouts and consultants, from the OMAFRA
team. It provides updates on crop conditions, timely recommendations,
monitoring and management of insects and diseases, changes to pesticide
registrations, meetings, conferences and new publications of interest
to the tender fruit and grape industry. A report is issued whenever there
is information to deliver - averaging about once a week during the growing
season and less often during the winter.

The Turgrass Management Report is a weekly update on current turf
pest problems affecting lawns, golf courses, sports field and sod. There
is also information about relevent and timely cultural practices that
should be performed. Information on coming events relevent to turf managers
are also included.

When there are crop production issues and events affecting vegetable
growers and the vegetable industry in Ontario, look for the OMAFRA Vegetable
Crop Update for information. Several editions are published: Cole
Crops, Roots, Bulbs & Leafy Vegetable Edition; Sweet Corn, Beans &
Pea Edition; Tomato & Pepper Edition; and others as required, such
as the Vine Crop Edition.
