Integrated Pest Management Options

Swede midge is a serious pest of spring canola though winter canola can experience damage. Under heavy midge infestations, later-planted spring canola plants may experience stunting and malformed growth, with extremely reduced flower and pod formation. Thresholds and spray timing are not available at this time. For more information on this pest, see the OMAFRA Publication 811, Agronomy Guide for Field Crops, for further information on pest biology and management options.
