Integrated Pest Management OptionsSeedling DiseasesSeedling diseases are present in all fields and all soil types. Maintain or build up good soil tilth by following a good crop rotation (3 years between bean crops of any kind). Do not overwork the soil and avoid working it when it is wet. Apply seed treatments that will help protect the plant from root rots during germination and early growth. Use tolerant varieties. Consult your seed company and the Ontario Pulse Crops Committee Variety Trials at www.ontario.ca/crops.
