Chapter 8 - Soil Management

Soil management is a key component of the crop production system. The best crop production practices applied to a field will not consistently produce a good crop if there has been a history of poor soil management. This chapter will highlight some important points about the soil resource and discuss how to assess the health of the soil. It will conclude with options to address soil problems with management practices that will help maintain or improve soil quality.
