Two-rowed cultivars are usually more susceptible to net blotch and scald than are six-rowed cultivars. To help prevent the build-up of these diseases, avoid growing barley after barley, plow down stubble and straw as completely as possible, and treat seed with fungicide (refer to OMAFRA Publication 812, Field Crop Protection Guide).
