Period of Activity

Adults are active in May and June as buds emerge. They feed on unfolding leaves and buds on fruiting canes. Their feeding causes elongated long holes in the leaf, which sometimes destroys bud clusters. Larvae are present in developing fruit and are most often observed at harvest.

Monitoring

Watch for leaf feeding around developing fruit buds. Adults can be detected by shaking bud clusters into a dish or tray but quiet observation is the best way to detect these insects.

Management notes

The application of a prebloom insecticide is recommended for control of this pest.
