Conventional Tillage Program
Preparation/Tillage/Seeding
- Glyphosate treatment
- chemical
- application
- mouldboard ploughing
- secondary tillage (will vary with soil type)
- disc
- cultivate
- harrow/level
- drilling companion crop (if any) and small forage seeds OR Brillion
seeding if direct seeded
- extra pass for large forage seed (brome/orchard etc.) if needed
- packing/rolling if not done in seeding pass
Seed Costs
- forage seed (legumes and grasses)
- inoculant if needed
- companion crop seed (cereal)
Fertilizer
- lime (if any)
- fertilizer through drill (often 11-52-0 or 8-32-16)
