Welcome to "ON Organic"

During the harvest season many farmers across the province have been facing the challenges associated excess weed pressure. A helpful tool to keep on hand for future use is the cover crop selection tool produced by the Midwest Cover Crops Council. The tool includes Ontario based information on a variety of cover crops and their best function in the field (including weed management applications). To access the tool, please visit the website at www.mccc.msu.edu/selectorINTRO.html.

Nominations for the 3rd annual Ontario Organic Awards are now open. Please contact the Organic Council of Ontario to learn more about the awards and how you can nominate an innovative person or business in the organic sector.

Coming up next month is the Eastern Ontario Local Food Conference taking place on November 22 in Kemptville. For more information please see the events section of the newsletter or to register visit the website at: http://2012eolfc.eventbrite.ca.

Although we are now past Thanksgiving, I wish everyone a fruitful end to the growing season and hope you have time to reflect on the many things we can be thankful for.
