Welcome to "ON Organic"
The growing season is underway and many fields are being planted. As all organic growers are aware, agronomic record keeping is an important part of your farm business to assist with production decisions each year. Keeping appropriate records is also a key factor in our organic system to provide traceability for organic products and for food safety issues. This month's Food Safety Snippet provides some additional thoughts for you to consider regarding food safety practices on your farm during the growing season. OMAFRA also has a number of resources to assist farmers and processors with implementing and tracking food safety practices. To learn more please visit the website at www.ontario.ca/foodsafety.
