Ontario’s minor use priorities are established annually by various services committees and minor use commodity liaison committees.

  1. URMULE = User Requested Minor Use Label Expansion; product already available in Canada on other commodities
  2. URMUR = User Requested Minor Use Registration; product not registered in Canada yet, but available for same use in USA or EU.
  3. Other = Is not eligible for either of the above
  4. Cat. A = Registrant submission
  5. Cat. B = Registrant submissions for new or amended product chemistry, new MRLs for previously assessed actives, new or amended label statements, reinstatement of registered products, extension of limited term registrations and emergency use registrations.

** Justifications:

  1. No pest control product registered to control this pest (insect, disease, weed)
  2. New introduced or invasive pest problem
  3. Old technology (organophosphate, carbamate, EBDC, etc.) replacement
  4. Resistance management /IPM strategy tool
  5. Reduced risk, biopesticide, pheromone or GRAS (generally regarded as safe) product
  6. Export crop with need for harmonized pest control options and crop tolerances
  7. New crop
