Depending on the scale of maple syrup production it may be necessary to employ a small labour force of seasonal workers. Working in the sugarbush can be both educational and great fun for young people, and it is usually not difficult to find local staff. But while the work can be appealing and fulfilling, careful attention must be given to health and safety. Everything from deadfalls, to operating motorized equipment and boiling evaporators, present potential hazards and it is important for an employer to train workers properly in their respective duties.
