How to access weather data from the Irrigation Monitoring Demonstration Project


The following are instructions on how to access the weather data from the Irrigation Monitoring Demonstration Project.

Before you proceed please set your system to 'ALLOW POP-UPS' (turn off your pop-up blockers) to use this software….And some systems have many pop-up blockers - shut them all off for this session!

1) Go to www.weatherinnovations.com

2) Log in your username and password:

    • username: kslingerland
    • password: wetsoil

3) You have several choices listed however to retrieve the weather data information you can either choose 'Raw Data Access' that provides a table of rainfall events at each of the four locations or you can choose 'My addVANTAGE' to access the soil moisture C-probe information

4) Select: Raw Data Access, then select a location- Choose the Data Type between every 15 min, hourly or daily. Again choose the dates you want to look at then choose the data to be displayed in the "Output Type" either on the Web Browser which is the fastest and most widely used or you can download data in an Excel File for any personal analysis you wish to do. Select: Submit and then Get Data. To return to the previous page click on the top arrow on your computer or choose the right-hand top box labeled My Account Options.

5) Select My addVANTAGE to view the soil moisture at the three soil depths at 10, 30 and 50 cm and a graphical display of rainfall. Double click on My addVANTAGE. You will be prompted with a Welcome to advantage notation where you will need to reenter your User Name and Password. You will now be entering into a different specialized graphics program. Click on YES to view your station locations. Double click on the station location of your choice. Within each station you can choose between a Saturation Probe and a Soil Moisture Peaches or Grapes - double click on the graphic icon to load the graphs.

- combinations of interval in this window and forward & back blue arrows help you maneuver quickly once you get on to the icons.

- show values at cursor. Click this icon and then click anywhere on the graph
- this is a toggle button - in the other mode you can cursor across the screen after setting a horizontal cursor beginning. There will be a summation box at the bottom of the scan providing you with interesting summary statistics. Left click, hold it down and drag the cursor over a time interval.

Niagara Irrigation Advisory Website-Irrigation Report

WIN has created a Niagara Regional Information website. You will be able to download local weather data from the various NAWN Network weather stations as well as being informed on irrigation advisories. Once on the WIN web page, www.weatherinnovations.com , go to "Products and Services", and then click onto the "Niagara Region Info". You can choose general weather information as well as the "Niagara Irrigation Advisory". Under the "Niagara Irrigation Advisory", you can learn several of the technical aspects of irrigation practices. Click on the date on the right side of this page to read specific and current short articles commenting on the soil moisture conditions at each of the four irrigation locations.
