Figure 2 shows that since 2005, there has been a 291%, 309% and 120% increase in acreage of Honeycrisp, Ambrosia, and Gala plantings while all other cultivars (except Fuji and Gingergold) are declining in planted area. Honeycrisp, Ambrosia, and Gala represent an overall production area of 7.2%, 4.2% and 11.9%, respectively -- nearly 25% on Ontario's total when combined. While these cultivars are not suited to all regions of the province, most are currently grown in at least one of the five growing districts.
