We have received funding from the OCPA and OWBP to establish a trapping
network for western bean cutworm this year in Ontario. We have some names
already of those who are willing to put up and maintain a trap on their
farm or client's farm. But we are still looking for more volunteers. We
will supply the trap and pheromone lures. You just need to promise to
put the trap up at the end of June, monitor it regularly until the end
of August and send us the number of western bean cutworm moths you find
in your trap each week, either via email, online through our trap website
(available soon) or by fax. We will also supply participants with a booklet
and access to a collection of recorded presentations online to help you
understand how to properly maintain your trap, identify western bean cutworm
moths and report your results to the trap network.
Anyone still interested in participating should contact the Ontario Western
Bean Cutworm Trapping Network at WBCtrapnetwork@gmail.com
or phone Tracey Baute at 519-674-1696.
