14th Year for CropPest Ontario Newsletter

2009 marks the 14th year for The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affair's Field Crop Production and IPM Newsletter, better known as the CropPest Ontario! As always I would like to take time and thank our sponsors (past and future): Bayer CropScience, BASF Canada, Growmark FS Partners (Agris Co-op), Hyland Seeds, Monsanto Canada, Pioneer Hi-Bred, Syngenta Crop Protection, and Syngenta Seeds.

Although the primary authors continue to be the OMAFRA Field Crop Specialists (Agriculture Development Branch), we must acknowledge the contributions from research scientists at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the University of Guelph (Ridgetown Campus and Guelph), as well as U.S. based extension personnel.

Our intention is to provide you with the best practical, theoretical or research based information, such as the first report of suspected glyphosate resistant giant ragweed in Ontario (page 10) which we hope will assist you in making informed decisions for yourselves and/or your clients. In addition many of the articles are further distributed through the farm press, retailers, internet, and OMAFRA technology vehicles such as the CropLine.

This and other issues of the newsletter will be posted as soon as possible on the OMAFRA website at http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/croppest (French version will be posted once translation is complete).
Good Luck in 2009! - Albert Tenuta (Editor)
