Rhizoctonia in soybeans is showing up in the southwest, particularly
in fields or areas that are water stressed (wilting). Rhizoctonia
has been observed on all soil types and often the worst cases are
found on light ground. Characteristic reddish-brown lesions appear
at the base of the stem and on roots just below the soil line. They
can enlarge into sunken lesions which may girdle the stem resulting
in damping-off.
