Wheat Seed Treatments A Must!

I can not stress enough - the use of untreated wheat seed is highly discouraged not only in areas with a history of dwarf bunt but in all areas of the province. Many economically important and very common wheat diseases in Ontario are managed effectively through fungicide seed treatments. We have seen an increase in some of these diseases as a result of either not using a fungicide seed treatment or poor seed fungicide seed coverage. Remember if the fungicide is not there it can not work!

The following tables look at the various fungicide seed treatment options available for winter wheat in the province and the diseases they are effective against. Please note (1) refers to suppression only.
