*N. Ontario refers to Algoma, Cochrane, Kenora, Manitoulin, Parry Sound
and Muskoka, Nipissing, Rainy River, Sudbury, Temiskaming and Thunder
Bay districts.
**Where lodging is expected, use of a plant growth regulator or a strong
strawed barley variety should be considered. Barley grown on areas with
greater than 2800 crop heat units should receive 45 kg N/ha, not 70 kg.
***More accurate nitrogen requirements for winter wheat and barley, adjusted
for yield and fertilizer cost, may be obtained by referring to the cereals
section of the OMAFRA Agronomy Guide for Field Crops, Publication 811.
